Chivimbiso Gava is an urban culture enthusiast, Africanist scholar, voracious reader and budding fiction writer who uses the written word to probe socio-political issues in Africa. Chivimbiso has performed at a multitude of poetry sessions and poetry slams in Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Amongst the most memorable was performing at the SADC Heads of State Summit in Lusaka, Zambia.

Her short stories have been published by Saraba, and ITCH. She is also a 2015 Writivism mentee. When she’s not writing stories, she’s ploughing on the job or focused on her postgraduate research, which explores the complexities of migration and identity. From time to time she can be found climbing mountains, basking on the beach, driving through the winelands, “living her best life” in the city she now calls home, Cape Town.
